Hey all, I just started a new position where I travel to sites and troubleshoot problems. I arrived at one clients home and there was a problem printing from her macbook to her HP printer.

I immediately checked different apps and they were all not printing in black, the color was working just fine. So onto the next check. I then tried to print from my phone by connecting to her wifi and still no black ink. Considering there was two different operating systems I limited the problem to being the actual printer.

So we narrowed it down to the actual printer being the problem. I first updated the firmware and the driver to the printer to rule that out. Still nothing.

So I decided to open up the printer and see if there was an issue. I took it apart because I wasn't able to properly see the printhead and when I took it out and presto, I was able to discern that the printhead black port was melted. 

I spoke with the client and found out she is a writer and she was recently printing an entire book. So that was the issue that caused it, printing hundreds and hundreds of pages without giving it a break.

Printing Problem


So some rules in outlook make some emails hard to find or blocked. A client called and stated that he wasn't receiving all of his emails, only some of them. So immediately I thought of spam blocking, and domain blocking in effect.
So I logged into his outlook and asked specifically what emails he wasn't getting. He said one in particular that he wasn't receiving. 

I went into the settings and unchecked focused emails. This is a fairly new option in outlook to bring the intelligently pre-sorts your email so you can focus on what matters in a specific place. So we don't need this.

Next we need to check the rules. Rules will create a method of how to handle incoming emails. It can put them into a specified folder, put them in spam or block them all together. We don't need that unless we are absolutely sure as to where we want to send those designated emails.

And finally we want to make sure the email addresses that we need are not blocked and they are designated as safe senders and domains. This could potentially block emails that we are looking for.

After that, we should be all good. Sent a test email to sender in question and asked him to respond and presto, all done. It went through without a hitch.


Client called and stated they are not receiving certain emails....

Not receiving emails


When I am trying to upload the data into the crm I am getting an Error 500 message. In order to figure out what this error is I need to go to the logs and look up what exactly is happening.

So it looks like the ID from the first CRM is too long to upload to this CRM. So I will have to adjust it.
I go into the .csv file and change the ID to a simple numeric cell.

I'm getting an error as I upload the existing data...

You need to match up the data with the fields imported:

I pulled the data from my company CRM. I'm going to see if I can make all of the attributes similar to my functioning CRM.

So when I downloaded the data, its broken down into sections. They may do this because of a couple reasons. 1.They want to keep the data seperate so that you have to request it from the company and they will charge you for it. 2.It may be in seperate sections on the CRM. 3. Its listed as a backup, wo it may be easier to backup the necessary data that you need. 4.There is not much thought into it.

Either way we need to combine the data into object files, so that they are all inclusive in order to keep each file sorted properly.

The major problem with this software, is that there is no customer support so we really have to figure the entire thing out by ourselves.

Uploading Data


I want to make this software customized to my specifications sooooo

First step we need to change the logo. I originally had this logo created on the site 99designs.com which I paid for. You don't have to pay for a logo, you can simply create one with any type of editing software.

If you remember the original software is called EspoCRM. But I wanted to tailor it to be called NextAction CRM. 

So I had the PNG file already, so I had to convert it to SVG format, because that is what the original software uses. So I went to Adobe Express to convert the file to SVG format. Simple process.

Then I went into the CRM files and found the logo file (to find the filename go to the site and right click and inspect*) and replaced it with my new file. You want to make sure that you name it the same, because other functions may use that filename. And presto!!!!!

We still have to change the title and center the logo, but so far so good.

So there are many ways you can create low cost websites to learn and mess around to further your understanding and knowledge. What I mean by low cost, you do have to purchase a domain name if you want a specific name. If you want a subdomain name such as https://bnutz1.github.io/azerib/ which you can still create a website and host completely free. So you can do this free, but I chose to purchase a custom domain so that I can grow the site and develop it without switching domain names. Having set up a custom domain also helps with SEO. Google and other search engines have algorithms that know how long your domain name has been active and ranks your visibility with many factors. How long your site is active and in use is one of those factors. 

So I bought the domain name, next is finding a hosting site. There are numerous hosting sites that you can pay low monthly fees for and there are also free hosting sites. I chose a free hosting site just to tinker around with my new site and customize it. I initially chose InfinityFree.net which gives free hosting for the most basic of sites, got everything setup, then got an error message telling me the php software was not up to date. The CRM software requires php 8.0, and InfinityFree was 7.4

So I found another free hosting site with php 8.0. It is x10hosting.com. I'm in the process of uploading the files using a ftp file transfer software, which is also free. Filezilla which connects to the host to upload a lot of files, fairly quickly.
